Netflix is charging Criterion prices for sports bar energy
Netflix just hiked the U.S. premium plan to nearly $27 a month to fund 'live sports' and 'video podcasts.' This is a total identity crisis. I didn’t sign up for prestige cinema just to subsidize a tech bro’s basement podcast and mid-tier football. We’re being asked to pay a premium for the algorithm’s failure, not the art’s success. If I wanted a sports bar experience, I’d go to one—at least the wings are better there.
