David Geffen’s LACMA Art Bridge is $750 Million of Arrogance
LACMA is finally opening its Zumthor-designed ‘horizontal skyscraper’ this April, and let’s be honest, it’s just a massive concrete middle finger to every commuter on Wilshire Boulevard. I’ve spent my life studying how people buy attention, but building an art gallery as a bridge so people are literally forced to drive through your tax-haven legacy is some devious-level branding. Most billionaires just buy a sports team; this guy built a 274-meter-long concrete flex over public property just to make sure we know who's on top. If the art inside isn't world-shattering, it’s just the world's most expensive overhead clearance sign.
