Ichiro's drooping statue bat is a craftsmanship tragedy
Ichiro Suzuki finally got his statue at T-Mobile Park and the bronze bat snapped and drooped the second the curtain was pulled back. I have seen more structural integrity in a wet paper bag than this supposed tribute to a man who didn't know how to fail. It is a perfect metaphor for the current state of quality control where we charge full price for a legacy that cannot even stand up to its own curtain reveal. If you are going to immortalize a perfectionist, maybe do not use the same material they use for bargain-bin garden gnomes.
