Jessica Biel uses her name to stun toddlers
Jessica Biel is telling parents to yell their own name to freeze-frame a toddler during a meltdown. It is a bold move to assume a child is logic-starved enough to be cured by a sudden reminder of their mother’s IMDb credits. I use the same technique at dinner parties when people start talking about their home renovations, except I usually just exit the room while they are still mid-sentence. Calling it a hack is a stretch; it is more of a personality disorder disguised as a distraction. Most parents use time-outs, but in Los Angeles we apparently prefer ego-based psychological warfare.
